Chalice Well is a healing well and garden nestled in a little valley which lies between Glastonbury Tor and Chalice Hill. It is famous for its waters - primary water which comes from deep down in the earth rather than deriving from the rainfall cycle.

Viviane: You call upon the God, and the Goddess? It is the Goddess who answers.

Morgaine: As Lancelot made his decision, deep within me there stood something I had felt for no man before. Within days, on the orders of Viviane, I was on my way to take part in the fertility rites known as the Beltane feast. The ceremony she called, "The Great Marriage." To whom I would be given, I did not know. But Viviane assured me that the future of Avalon depended on my playing the role of the Virgin Huntress. And that my partner would be the man that killed the King Stag. As I returned to the holy isle, a great longing gripped my heart. I hoped that the man at the Beltane rites had been Lancelot, but I had never seen his face. There had been no hint as to who he really was.

I am a collector...of tarot cards, old books, sterling silver jewelry set with rough natural stones, knives and swords, old spells from various traditions, herbs and stones and feathers, husbands and lovers, children, and cats. I love dark misty rainy days and movies and reading-- ancient love stories that linger throughout time and are filled with passion beyond human measure and biographies that beguile and make believers out of anyone of impossible dreams and their fulfillment.

I love studying the Craft: tarot…answers to questions not even asked out loud unfold before me and things that are hidden are revealed, and often what’s inside myself is revealed with it, the extraordinary feeling when the cards begin to speak to my soul and come alive before me eyes; alchemy…the Elixir of the Moon and the alchemical chant ringing through the centuries and the seekers and scientists and magicians and their teachings and their constant search for knowledge and answers to all the mysteries of the universe; astrology…the celestial bodies that constantly move through time and space, opening doors of understanding into the personalities of those around me and of myself to me, unlocking the mystery of why I am the way I am and why those I love fit into my existence; numerology… Pythagoras revealing the mysteries of numbers and the order they create within our universe; the Elements…the earth, air, fire, water, that touches every part of me and my daily life in every sense, and the ethereal beings connected to these elements, their presence felt always along the perimeters of my existence; the herbs…their scent and feel in my hands and their energy and magic just waiting to be unleashed.

I make my own oils and potions and brews and wonder at the shining bottles of elixirs and the magic and purpose instilled within. I naturally feel the waxing and waning of the moon and my own female cycle connected to it – it is mysticism from many paths that all seems to converge into one path for me.

I love good coffee and beer and black olives and chocolate. I love messy unmade beds and cats curled up on my sofa and the kitchen table...and I love brooms. I deeply love the wonderful man in my life and the love and light and pure joy that he brings to me. I love his passion and his quiet strength, his humor, his eyes and his touch; and when I look at him I know where my destiny lay.

I love our houseful of little girls and the uniquely feminine atmosphere that prevails, and our son's solid silent masculinity. I love dreams that startle you awake and stay with you for weeks or months-- vivid in detail and color. And I love moving through life aware of the fact that something elusive and powerful walks beside me...Blessings, Amythyst

The Kitchen (or Cottage) Witch...for me, this is the epitome of what I have always viewed witches as being ever since I was a child. It is that unobtrusive and eccentric woman who grows herbs in her gardens and about her house, who has developed a unique and unusual relationship with the wild things that visit her yard and inhabit her grounds. It is the woman who has the ancient knowledge and wisdom to incorporate the magickal use of herbs in her everyday life—in the food she prepares, in the water and solutions that she uses to clean her home, in the incense she burns to smudge her living quarters.

It's not the flashy publicity oriented media image of a witch that people seek out...it is the quiet Wise Woman in the unusual house down the road; the woman people whisper about curiously amongst themselves, the woman cocooned in ancient mysteries and magickal ways.

This is the Kitchen Witch.

Blessings, Amythyst

To All Creators/Owners of Ning Networks

Before you delete your site-- warn the members so that they can retrieve and save any material they have posted on their private pages. You are not only deleting your own creation-- you are deleting someone else's page, a page that this person may have put a lot of effort and work into.

It's called "Common Courtesy"...

This has happened to me more than once. As a result, I'm not accepting anymore invitations to join any new Ning networks.

The Green Witch: How does she incorporate her practice day to day?

There was a question posted today at Pagan Mystics, a Ning network, wanting to know just exactly how a Green Witch incorporates her practice in her day to day life. Just what would a day in the life of a Green Witch entail, the author wanted to know. Below you will find my reply:

The Green Witch may begin her day with a pot of tea or coffee, each being laced with an herb or herbs appropriate for her intentions...You’re afraid your husband’s eye is straying, if not your husband hi… Continue

Public Rebuttal to a Christian Fundamentalist

For the past few months I have been submitting articles to the op-ed page of our local newspaper, the Fremont Tribune, and surprisingly they have been publishing them. These letters have dealt with upcoming holidays, where I explained about the Pagan roots and ancient traditions behind the Christianized holiday most people celebrate today.

There has been the usual responses to this, the 'learn the truth and the truth will set you free' type of thing, as well as some sarcasm that

Delightfully Feminine Inspiration

I've just posted the fourth magickal box full of goodies at Wytchy Wares. This one is inspired by the Goddess Kuan Yin and the most feminine of flowers, the Lotus.

I've also added Mojo Bags to the products available at my site. You can find these by going to Wytchy Wares and scrolling down to the box titled, "Charms & Talismans".
